It was unseasonably warm and humid at midnight in the dead-middle of autumn. Reverberations from thunderclaps were felt as well as they could be heard, thus heralding the arrival of a mercurial southern storm.
The Deep Dark Magic team sat gathered around an obsidian bowl of scrying for what would otherwise be a typical, everyday sort of meeting. That is, if it weren't for the scene that played upon the ripples of the dark, viscous liquid as we sat rapt.
Long story short, we walked away with a strange compulsion to humbly and trepidatiously wade into the turbulent waters of local independent music with, auspiciously, a trident-like plan. A three-pronged approach, if you will. Please, no groans.
Without ado, the prongs:
- A local independent record label
- In-house producing, recording, and mixing services for local artists and kindred spirits
- An unconventional live room for performance, recording, and streaming
At present, these items exist only in an inchoate or aspirational state. ...And yet, the seeds have been planted, and conditions seem favorable enough to dream.
